God Gives More Grace As Our Burdens Grow Greater!

I have been through some difficult years recently but things are beginning to ease now.

Through it all I have found the words of these two Hymns so helpful and true.

He Giveth More Grace

Lyrics, Annie J. Flint  Music, Ray Steadman-Allen

He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,

He sendeth more strength as our labours increase;

To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,

To multiplied trials He multiplies peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,

When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,

When we reach the end of our hoarded resources

Our Father’s full giving is only begun.

Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,

Our God ever yearns His resources to share;

Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;

The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.

His love has no limits,

His grace has no measure,

His power no boundary known unto men;

For out of His infinite riches in Jesus He giveth,

and giveth, and giveth again.

Relevant Scripture: James 4:6,7, 8 & 10

6But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you

8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN

Life is easy when you’re up on the mountain

And you’ve got peace of mind like you’ve never known.

But then things change and you’re down in the valley.

Don’t lose faith for you’re never alone.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.

When things go wrong, He’ll make it right.

And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.

The God of the day is still God in the night.

You talk of faith when you’re up on the mountain.

Oh but the talk comes easy when life’s at its best.

But it’s down in the valley of trials and temptation

That’s when faith is really put to the test.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.

When things go wrong, He’ll make it right.

And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.

The God of the day is still God in the night.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.

When things go wrong, He’ll make it right.

And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times.

The God of the day is still God in the night.

The God of the day is still God in the night.

 We learn great truths about God’s love, mercy and faithfulness, and our heart is softened, when we are ‘in the valley’.   M. Mainwaring

Sometimes we are faced with a situation we feel we can’t cope with.  That’s when God steps in, if we allow Him, and lifts our head, strengthens our backbone and with His grace helps us make the seemingly impossible, POSSIBLE!    M. Mainwaring

KNIGHT 2

OFT IN DANGER, OFT IN WOE    (Hymn)

Words by Henry Kirke White, first printed in 1812, and added to by Frances Fuller-Maitland 1827.

Oft in danger, oft in woe,

onward, Christian, onward go:

bear the toil; maintain the strife,

strengthened with the Bread of Life.

Onward Christians, onward go,

join the war and face the foe;

will ye flee in danger’s hour?

Know ye not your Captain’s power?

Let your drooping hearts be glad:

march in heavenly armour clad:

fight, nor think the battle long,

victory soon shall be your song.

Let not sorrow dim your eye,

soon shall every tear be dry;

let not fears your course impede,

great your strength, if great your need.

Onward then in battle move,

more than conquerors ye shall prove;

though opposed by many a foe,

Christian soldiers, onward go.
